Farewell, O Niagara! rolling in splendor,
‡‡Thy beauty is matchless, thy power is supreme;
And now, ere I leave thee, my homage I render —
‡‡To return to the world I must rouse from my dream.
In a trance I have been, while sublimest emotions
‡‡Have crowded the chambers of soul and of thought;
But my dreams of delight and my deepest devotions
‡‡Are faded away – there’s a hole in my coat!
